Chester's Highway - Acklins Island

Chester's Highway Inn Bone Fish Lodge is a remote resort located on pristine, Acklins Island next to Atwood Harbour. The property overlooks the richest bone fishing flat in the Southern Bahamas, in fact, as soon as guests arrive, they see the flat just across the street, and immediately grab a rod and wade for fish.
Facilities: 5 rooms, restaurant, kayaks, bicycle rentals.
 
Tranquillity Bay Resort - Crooked Island
 
On peaceful Crooked Island, you will find a unique family-operated resort, offering five large rooms. Tranquillity more than lives up to its name. The property sits on 2.5 acres of sandy BEACHFRONT and offers a beauty salon, gift shop and beachfront restaurant/bar and lounge. Bone fishing and kayaking are the most popular activities here. This newly constructed resort seeks to cater to the guests' need for peace, quiet, and solitude - a resource that is becoming increasingly scarce.
 
YOUR APPROXIMATE TRAVEL ITINERARY:
 
Friday arrival in Nassau and overnight (not included in this package price)
 

Saturday:

  • 8.30am   Bahamasair departs Nassau to Spring Point Airport, Acklins Island
  • 9.45am   arrival in Acklins. You will be met by a taxi representative of Chester's Highway who will provide the transfer to Chester's Highway Inn (approx. 30 minutes). Enjoy the scenic ride and view the virgin bonefish flats, possibly spot some flamingos in the distance.
  • Check-in to Chester's Highway. Taste some of Arnette's home cookery for lunch. After that Julius will be happy to take you to a remote beach that you can own for the rest of the afternoon, all by yourself!
    Dinner and overnight.

Sunday:

  • Breakfast served with love by Arnette.
  • Full day of bone fishing with a local guide and a picnic lunch. Exact times will be given to you by the hotel staff. Good luck.
  • Dinner and overnight at Chester's Highway. Suggested evening activity: Star gazing! You will not be able to count the million's of stars!

Monday:

  • Breakfast according to local custom
  • Full day of bone fishing with local guide. You will be taken to a different flat. Picnic lunch included.
  • You may want to try dinner at another local place. The hotel will be happy to make recommondations.
  • Suggested evening activtity: Go for a stroll and engage in converstations with other bone fisherman. There will be lots of stories to tell.

Tuesday:

  • Transfer to the government ferry for 8.00am or 4.00pm. Please advise the hotel which ferry you wish to take.
  • The ferry will take approximately 10 minutes to Crooked Island. There you will be met by a taxi driver representing the Tranquillity Bay Resort and taken to the hotel for check in. Day at leisure. Enjoy the beach, swim, jog or simply soke up the sun. Dinner at the restaurant. There is a TV in the lounge, if you feel the need to watch the news or a sports game. Overnight

Wednesday:

  • Breakfast
  • Full day of Bonefishing with a boxed lunch. Your local guide will show you the best flats!
  • In the evening watch the stunning sunsets and relax with a cocktail on the beach. Dinner and overnight

Thursday:

  • Breakfast
  • Today is a special good day for the bone fish to bite! Your local guide will take you out to a different area for a full day and a picnic lunch.
  • This is your last evening in remote Crooked Island. You may want to eat a different local place. Please arrange with the hotel.
  • Before going to bed, be sure to take another good look at the stary sky. Take your time and find all of the constallations in the dark sky. You may even see a falling star. Don't forget to make that wish!

Friday:

  • After breakast Bernard will take you to Colonell Hill Airport fgor a check in at 8.40am.
  • 9.40am Departure on Pineapple Air to Nassau. The sweetest way to fly!
  • 11.15am arrival in Nassau at the domestic terminal. Welcome back to civilization and crowds.
     
     
Helpful Hints
Trip is only possible from Saturdays to Fridays, as flights only operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays or Saturdays.
Additional nights are available. Please contact us for a new quote. An overnight stay is required on arrival, as the only flight to Acklins leaves at 8.30am. We suggest to stay at the A Stones Throw Away for an additional $212.00 for a single room or $129.00 per person double occupancy including round trip airport transfers, breakfast and taxes/gratuities.
On the return from Crooked Island, please allow a minimum of 3 hours before connecting to the USA, because you need to clear US customs and immigration in Nassau. This requires extra time. For flights to Canada, London or Jamaica 2 hours is sufficient.

 
Useful Information: Maximum luggage allowance is 44 pounds per person. We suggest you travel light with casual clothing and take sun protection items. If you have to take regular medication, you should take a sufficient supply with you, as you may not be able to get your particular medication/description on these islands.
There are no banks in Acklins or Crooked Island, so bring enough cash and a major credit card to settle your incidental charges. Chester’s Highway will organize the transfer from their Lodge to the government ferry. The ferry ride is only about 10 minutes.
You will receive a personal itinerary with our phone number in Nassau, which you can call during and after office hours in case of problems or emergencies.
For a complete Bahamas vacation experience, a 2 or 3-night stay in Nassau/Paradise Island is suggested before or after this trip.

  • 2 Full days of Bone Fishing for 2 with lunch and local guide, on Sunday and Monday
  • Transfer on Tuesday to the Government Ferry and short ferry ride to Crooked Island

Gratuity for the bonefish guide is NOT included.

Arrival in Nassau is required at least on Friday. We will be happy to arrange an overnight or several nights in Nassau for your pre-stay. The trip starts and ends in Nassau. International flights are not included.
