The Abaco Club on Winding Bay, Bahamas, a golf, sporting and family retreat created by British entrepreneur Peter de Savary, is opening its doors to clients who want the ultimate vacation in paradise. The European ambiance of the Abaco Club is one of quite sophistication, a casual and informal atmosphere to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this wonderful location, or take full advantage of the Club's many sporting and leisure activities which will engage and provide fun for families of all ages. The Club opened in 2004 with the world's first 18-hole championship Scottish tropical links course in the Caribbean, and 2.3 miles of pristine, double crescent-shaped, powder soft sand beach. The Clubhouse is situated 65 feet above sea level and offers a tropical dining experience with spectacular views of Winding Bay, the ocean and the 18th green. Our Elemis at The Abaco Club provides a relaxing oasis for members to unwind
after a challenging game of golf, tennis or after a day of fishing or sailing
around the Island. GOLF The architect, Scotland's Donald Steel, is the world's leading links architect, having built or redesigned over 100 courses around the world, many of them being seaside venues. Emphasis on top quality, based on technical and academic knowledge and attention to detail, combined with his philosophy of minimizing earth movement and blending a course layout into its natural surroundings are the hallmarks of his work.The par 72 championship layout plays to a length of 7,183 yards. The finishing holes of our 'tropical links' course rest comfortably high atop a ridge overlooking the ocean. The 18th hole, a 553 yard par 5, plays alongside the ocean at elevations of 60 feet. It is destined to rank among the great finishing holes in golf. An extensive world-class practice facility, teaching academy, and pro shop rounds out the exceptional golfing experience for members of The Abaco Club on Winding Bay. ROOM FEATURES:

Club Cabanas: The exclusive Abaco Club on Winding Bay has created
twenty chic and private Club Cabanas, which are available to rent. Each of
these idyllic Bahamian Cabanas affords the seclusion and luxury of a small
private home in a truly outstanding location, with all the amenities and
privileges of this exclusive club. Thatched decks with sitting areas and
hammocks, surrounded by mature tropical flora and fauna provide for enchanting
outdoor living space. Interiors, by award winning designer Nicole Langlois
which are luxurious in style, white in background, with punches of vibrant
traditional Bahamian turquoises, pinks, blues and lavenders. Full length white
curtains over French doors complemented by cypress ceilings and natural bamboo
floors add to the cool tropical atmosphere. The Cabanas feature one king or
two twin beds with indulgent Italian bedding and linens. Each has a beautiful
and luxuriously fitted en-suite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. Seating areas
are thoughtfully designed and include marble topped wet bars with Villeroy and
Boch china.
Club Cottages: On Ocean Point, 65 feet above the tranquil waters of
Winding Bay, the village begins. Seventy, 2 and 3-bedroom Abaco Club Cottages
that dot the landscape and cascade down the ridge to Winding Bay. These fully
furnished homes are exquisite and offer breathtaking views in every direction.
There are five styles of homes to choose from, each uniquely designed with
generous verandahs and spacious interiors in order to take advantage of this
magnificent tropical location.
HELPFUL HINTS:
Bahamasair seasonally offers 2-3 flights a day between Nassau and Marsh Harbour. Winter and summer schedules vary slightly. The morning flight is generally around or before 8.00a.m. and the afternoon flight is generally around or after 3.00p.m. Occasionally these flights do stop in Treasure Cay, it is important to listen carefully for the name of the airport you are landing in. On a seasonal basis Bahamasair also offers a direct non-stop flight to and from Marsh Harbour around the 10.30a.m. period returning early afternoon. A variety of smaller charters companies are now offering scheduled flights into Marsh Harbour from Nassau such as Abaco Air. Marsh Harbour also has direct flights from some cities in the U.S. on Continental and USAir.
