WHAT-TO-DO:

Dinner is served by candlelight in the Tiamo lodge. White linen and polished silver, gentle breezes and fine wine-dining at Tiamo is the essence of "barefoot sophistication". Attire is casual-feel comfortable leaving the dinner jacket and pearls at home.

Diving:
Diving is an important part of what we offer here at Tiamo and the diving on Andros is superb due to a combination of amazingly clear water and the world's third largest barrier reef. The reef edge is only 10 minutes from Tiamo and drops down an almost vertical wall into The Tongue of the Ocean, which is up to 6,000ft deep and lies between Andros and Nassau.
Our fully qualified PADI dive master will ensure a day of underwater wonderment from the moment you step onboard at the dock to the time  he returns you safely to the beach deck.

Snorkeling:
Angelfish, barracuda, stingray and parrotfish are just a few of the amazing creatures awaiting snorkellers off Tiamo’s shores. Snorkelling is part of your inclusive deal and expert tuition and the services of our guides are free to all our guests.
The shallower waters just off Tiamo beach are an ideal training and hunting ground for beginners - you’ll find sea-cucumbers and sponges, starfish and sea-fans among a myriad of colourful creatures, all very easy to spot in the crystal-clear waters. Even the most seasoned snorkellers will be amazed by the astounding variety of marine life to be found further offshore as we explore the Andros Barrier Reef, the third largest reef in the world, and the extraordinarily rich depths of the Blue Holes made famous back in the 1970s by veteran celebrity diver Jacques Cousteau.

Fishing:
Andros Island, with its hundreds of miles of inland flats, has long been recognized for its world-class bonefishing. Full-day adventures to the seldom fished and totally uninhabited West Side of Andros Island, including boat, guide services and a packed lunch on the water, are $500 for up to two people.
Just a short distance from the dock at Tiamo you will find some of the finest virgin Blue Water and reef fishing on the planet. Highlight catches of the season include Sailfish, Wahoo, Kingfish, Dorado and two species of Tuna - Yellow fin and Black fin, while closer to the reef you’ll see abundant Snapper, Grouper and Barracuda.
Tiamo has its own boat, fully-equipped for blue water fishing, which (weather permitting) will take bone fishermen, their partners and guests for a nominal charge on exploratory trips to catch their supper! Longer day trips out on the water can also be arranged.
Tiamo is almost unique in being able to find you fishing flats protected from the wind whichever way it’s blowing. Feel like a change? You can cast a fly or a lure to a barracuda as light spinning rods are carried in every boat. Permit are seen occasionally but even more rarely caught! Tarpon can be targeted in the creeks on the west side and at certain times of year can be ambushed while migrating on the flats. Various species of snapper and jacks can be caught on the fly and you’ll find plentiful grouper and tuna in and around the nearby reef.
Whether you are a novice or a seasoned angler, Tiamo offers some of the most extraordinarily prolific salt-water fishing to be found anywhere in the world.
Our dedicated and professional fishing team boasts over 100 years of bonefishing between them. They know these waters intimately and their passion, their knowledge and their easy-going nature make them your perfect companions for a day out on the water.

Sailing:
After just one lesson from the Nature Concierge Team you will be skimming happily across the gin-clear waters of the South Bight in one of our fleet of totally stable and easy-to-handle trimarans, lounging in hammock-style nets slung between the outriggers. This is sailing Tiamo-style; no sweat and definitely no tears!

Nature Tours: Rare Rock Iguanas, 330 different species of birds and 20 different wild orchid are just some of the characterful natives of South Andros you’ll meet on the trails through the lush Bahamian bush right here at Tiamo, accompanied by our Nature Concierge.
